Album: The Love Songs

Forevermore is the third of the new songs from the new Love Songs album, and was the first single to be released in Germany. It was released around the time the world heard of the tragic death of Princess Diana and the lyrics are almost an eerie echo of those events. It tells the tale of a man who has had a terrible dream, a nightmare. He's dreamt that his loved one has been killed. Waking he realises that it was only a dream, but it was so powerful, and he knows that it is a very real possibility that something could happen unexpectedly, and that you cannot take your partners presence for granted. (OK, this is getting to be a common theme in Chris' Love Songs, you can speculate on the meaning if you wish, figure out his message to us .I'll concentrate on the music<g>).
Going downstairs to contemplate the nightmare he has had he begins to realise just how little he tells his partner about the way that he feels, and from his emotions are born a tribute in the form of these lyrics
"you are my lover, you are my friend, you are my life
to the very end
you bring me comfort, you keep me warm
you give me hope, you make me strong,
you take me away, to a different shore,
and it's with you that I want to stay.. Forevermore."
This is a very powerful chorus, and it sounds all the better for the Irish Lilt in Chris' voice when he sings "Lover". Trust me, I know the accent..<g>
Now, I can spot shades of the Satin Green Shutters and Lady In Red in this song but it doesnt matter - it's another good love song from the man - it isnt the best on the album - that place is reserved for It's Me(And I'm Ready To Go) which is the most powerful song he has produced of late, but it does make up a trio of songs which make this album worth the purchase price - and you still have five re-mixed songs too
