Joan Smith:

There are not many men who would drive over 1000 miles to take his
wife to a Chris de Burgh concert. However my husband is one in a
million. So we made the trip from Exeter to Holland, everything had
worked out perfectly for us to go to the concert in Utrecht. It was
school half term and I had a week off, our friends in Hilversum could
put us up, and I even managed to buy tickets from the Dutch website
with a little help from my friend Mareicke.

I really liked this Vredenburg venue and although the tickets were
not numbered we were able to sit 4 rows back. There hardly seemed
room for everyone at this sell out concert, people were sitting on
the steps and in the aisles. Chris performed a good mix of songs from
the new album and some old favorites. There wasnt a dry eye in the
place when Chris sang 'Carry Me' for a couple who had lost their
daughter.

It seemed to take ages for everyone to get up and dance and
there wasnt the usual rush to the front that seems to happen in the
UK. However I think the best bit was when Chris came down from the
stage and came into the audience. No security in evidence just lots
of happy fans and one fantastic performer. Chris sang ' It's a Long
way Home' and Keith whispered to me 'Yes about 500 miles!!!!!'

Beatrix Ouwerkerk:

Hi, everybody

Annelies , Maarten and I were (thanks to Maarten"s booster) earlier than
the public in front of the stage, so Annelies and I had the front row seat
1& 2..! Never have I been so close to the stage - it was only 1 meter high
and Chris was 2 meters away.wow... Maarten was send away by the
securetyguard to the proper invalide section - two stores higher - but he
let me stay there -in the first row-isn't this true love!!!!!!!!!!

So Chris came up standing still in the spotlight, coloured light blue, and
on the tune of "when winter comes". Brilliant!!
The head and the hear - yes that song coverd the whole concert;
because after the young couple asked their request (meanwhile Chris was
caressing the boy's hair - almost impossible to restrain his tears) he
proved to be so profesional because you could clearly see his hands were
playing the guitar and his lips were singing the songs, but his eyes,
that big brown eyes, were filled with tears.
Yes, the standing ovation was absolutely right.
The part after that, he really wanted to give the
rest of the audience their fun and dances. My heart went out for him,
because is there anybody for him after the concert????????????
He worked very hard to give us all our share of his head and his heart and he
succeeded.
There was Chris de Burgh, in size a small man - but, boy, what a great heart!!!!!

Enjoy the next concerts, we will never forget this one........
