Mylene Reiners:

Just home from a long weekend (Friday until Monday) Hessen...
Beautiful surroundings (still aching muscles, walked to much (60 km.
in two days) - and I'm not used to the hills...) As Claudia G. wrote,
the concert was absolutely great. I don't know too many listmembers,
but I also saw familiar faces - and Heike and Ina I know from Tilburg
last year. I thought I would be the only one from the Netherlands, but
a couple behind me came from the Netherlands too (expecting to be the
only ones :).

The venue was nice, the parking not so - I arrived at 16.20 and was not
allowed to park until 16.30 - but I was not allowed to wait. Nice when
you don't know your way - I drove some 20 kilometers to arrive again
at the parking lots - but I found it - and was used to getting lost in
that part of Germany. I'm good at driving, and good at reading maps,
but not at combining them - and I have a terrific talent of choosing
the wrong direction. Luckily when I will get my new car
(September) it will have a navigation system (no German CD included -
but I'm sure I will buy one, when I have to travel there again...)

I walked in the park - the weather was really nice - thinking back on
arriving Friday in the pouring rain!! I only had a fleece sweater to
put on, forgot a shirt, and that would be much too hot, so before the
concert I bought one of the new T-shirts. I liked them. I also bought
the Dortmund CD - and listened to that on my way home.

I thought CdeB talked a lot less than last year, but I don't mind - I
love hearing him sing - that's what I'm visiting concerts for. I told
the couple sitting beside me people in Germany are more enthousiastic
at concerts than in the Netherlands - but this concert started rather
in a Dutch way. Lots of passive audience (including me)
- although I loved the songs - and he started with some of my favorites.
That made up for missing "When winter comes". Quickly CdeB managed to
get us "more active", and I enjoyed the show more and more... The
Britney part was long - really nice for those people sitting in the
back - the people in the first row didn't see him much - you only saw
people turning - and so you could guess where he was. Also nice seeing
the people watching the concert from the windows of the Schloss
enjoying themselve very much! After the Britney-part some more
favorites, than the dancing part, the encores, the Beatles-etc. -medly.
Just great!!! Strange - how much I like that last part - it's a pity
you go home singing "Hey Jude", in stead of one of the great CdeB
originals.... I guess my feeling of a great concert was shared by
everyone - even the man himself - otherwise he wouldn't have done the
Beatles part.

Can't wait to see him again (probably Bochum, Krefeld for sure, and
maybe Bonn) - I hope I can arrange things with my work - when I booked
the places it seemed sure I would be working in Eindhoven (half an hour
driving distance, no traffic jams)- but I'm working in Utrecht now, for
half a year (until November) - and I have to get up at 4.30 - and drive
one and an half hour - when there are no traffic jams - and most of the
time there are :(
