Chris Williams:

Hi all,
well here is my review of the concert in Erwitte last night. In the
late morning, we set off from Hannover to drive the 2 hours to
Erwitte, where we were staying in the Schloss Hotel. We found it
easily thanks to our trusted SAT NAV friend !!

AS we were driving upto the hotel, we saw Andrea and her friend Karin
(not a list member) who we planned to meet up with there. After
Andrea had picked up Sibylle from the local railway station, and we
had unpacked, we all sat down in the beer garden and watched lots of
people arrive !! There was a big wedding party there that day as
well....but we already knew about that from the day we booked the
hotel.

When we first arrived we had quite a scare as the lady on reception
could not find our booking on the computer, and she had to make a
phone call, and then went off to talk to someone else before coming
back to say that they could not still find my booking :-( Thankfully
I had the confirmation email on me still, so once the lady had seen
this, there was another panic as hse tried to find a spare room for
us. thankfully they still had a tiny double room, rigth at the top
of the castle hotel. Stewart and I did not mind at all that it was a
small room, as it was still nice, just a liitle bit hot...but we
coped alright !!

Soon we set off for the venue and waited for the gates to open. The
actual venue was in a big tent like a 'circus tent'....but
thankfully all the sides were rolled up so it was not too hot in
there.

We all sat on long wooden benches in the main arena part and raised
seating on the sides. Right at the back there was a few tall tables
where people could stand to watch the concert. The benches really
reminded me of when I was doing PE at school !!

The concert started on time and Chris was dressed in all black as
usual.......I guess Chris's suitcase must be a lot lighter than
mine ;-)

After, I think it was the third song, Chris sat down at the piano
and then noticed a lady with 2 young children approaching the stage
with some lovely soft artificial sunflowers, so he came down the
steps from the stage and bent right down, to take the flowers from
the sweet little girls and of course thanked them for them. The
sight was soo sweet to see. After that he said that the smaller
children could come and sit down the front, but only a couple
actually came down and to be quite honest I doubt that they saw much
as the stage was quite high, esoecially for children to see. At this
point he did offer them to sit on the side of the stage, but their
mum said that the speakers would be too loud for them.

The usual songs were sung of course and at one point he made a small
reference to the awful weather in Hannover the night before.

The britney bit went down really well, and at this point alot of
fans came forward and tried to stay there, but CA and security made
then go back and only about 3 did not and even they sat down on the
floor to watch.

The rest of the show was the same as normal until when Chris asked
us all to join him down the front...well that was of course if we
wanted to !! Again at this point Chris said that little children
could sit down on the stage. Only one little girl was put on stage
by her mum, and she was a right little love, and quite extrovert,
even at the tender age she was...i doubt that she was more than 3
years old !! she sat right on the front of the stage and was
clapping and really 'playing' to the audience..who of course loved
it as she was sooo cute. I saw Chris smile down at her several
times :-))

At the end of Ferryman....she ran right upto Chris and he gave her a
big kiss on both cheeks.........maybe I should try this kind of
approach tonight ;-)

Chris only came back for the one encore last night and after Snows
of New York had finished, as Chris was walking along the front of
the audience shaking peoples hands, she again ran up to him and I
was afraid that he would not see her behind him, but thankfully he
did and took her by the hand as he finished shaking the rest of the
peoples hands that were down the front. At this point in the show, I
usually draw back fronf the stage to let other people in, so that
they can gat a handshake from Chris.

Only too soon, the real end came and for the first time in several
days Chris did not come back on stage to do his 'party songs bit'. I
really really missed this bit, but appreciate that Chris must be
pretty tired after all these concerts so close to each other. Gosh I
know how tired Stewart and I are with all the 'touring' around !!And
we dont have to stand on stage and entertain 2 thousand Plus fans
every night.

Take care all,
Chris(W)...thebluehealer and travelling CdeB reporter !!
