Kelly Preston:
Hello all!
Well...I'm still with my heads in the clouds and the details are still
a bit sketchy, so bear with me on this as I try to tell you all about
my Chris de Burgh experience last night.
It was completely amazing! After having a small drink to settle me
down, we made our way to our seats. The seats were fabulous but we
were so close that we couldn't really see him when he was behind the
piano. He was standing directly in front of us though when he sang
with his guitar. He was in magnificant form and he commented how this
was his last show for this particular tour. He said he enjoyed
touring for this and he loved ending it in Halifax. The set list was
pretty much the same as for St. John's, with a few exceptions. Don't
ask me yet, my mind is still fuzzy. He sang a lot of songs from TRTF
and he sang some Canadian favorites: Spaceman, Spanish Train, Don't
Pay the Ferryman, High on Emotion and of course, TLIR. He sang the
Tower and it was absolutely beautiful. I had never heard him sing this
in concert before, I don't think. He also sang Lonely Sky and that
was so beautiful as well. His voice is just getting better and
better. And he amazes me...he so soft spoken, but can belt out these
amazing notes and hold them. He sang for 2 hours and 45 minutes. He
has so much energy and offers so much of himself to the audience. He
did not disappoint.
He did his Britney bit and went into the audience. It was wonderful
to see him cuddle up to some of the crowd. They loved it too. He
walked right into the centre of one row and sat on someone's lap!!
What a treat for some lucky fan!! During one of the encores, he came
down and hugged those of us fortunate enough to be in the front row.
Naturally, I was in there like a dirty shirt and got a hug from him (I
can die happy now). I know most of you know this as you've seen him
countless times and most of you have met him, so to remark on how
generous he is...how gracious...how sincere would seem pointless as
you all are so familiar with him. I can only tell you what seeing him
in person means to me. Even that is hard for me to articulate as he
and his music hold such a special place in my heart. This will sound
so weird, but my "relationship" with his music is so personal...I
can't put to words what seeing him does to me. All I can say is he
puts on an energetic, completely fullfilling show. Even the ballads
are so filled with emotion that if you are not moved by his words, his
music, his passion, then you are made of stone.
I have tons of pictures and I think I can post them somewhere here.
I'll try.
He didn't mention where he was going after the show, as he sometimes
does, but he did say he wasn't leaving Canada until tomorrow. So he's
still here...still in the Great White North. We were going to go to a
couple of places last night that he's known to frequent, so we went
back to the hotel because the girls had to pee (women!!!) and when we
were there, they decided they were too tired to go out and wanted to
stay put and get some rest. We had to leave really early this morning
because they had to work and it's a 2.5 hour drive back so needless to
say, I was game for getting some rest, too. We were going to meet up
with some other fans, but the girls were just too tired. Needless to
say, I didn't sleep much at all, and drove home with a cup of tea in
hand.
All in all, it was a fabulous concert. He's an amazing performer and
I'm so glad I was fortunate enough to be as close to him last night as
I was.
If I can remember more 'details', I'll add them. Till then...
Cheers! from cloud 9 where I'm sure I'll come down....eventually! Kelly xoxo
