Andrea Lucas and Sibylle Marwitz: Hi all, for those who are not tired yet reading reviews here is ours from our trip to the Bodensee and the concert in Salem. After an already very relaxing weekend with the shows in Weissenburg, Schwetzingen and Mainz, Sibylle and I headed south to the Bodensee area after breakfast in Mainz. We had a brief stop at my place so I could leave some dirty clothes here and replace them by new ones and Sibylle booked her train ticket back home for Wednesday. There was quite some traffic and we only arrived in Meersburg in the evening. Our hotel was very nice, close to the lake and we were greeted with prosecco. Not a bad start.. We went out for a meal and could even sit outside. The next morning we walked to Meersburg which is a lovely town. Too bad we didn't have time for a boat trip or some swimming in the lake, since the weather was absolutely gorgeous. After a quick drink we walked back to the hotel, packed our concert stuff and drove to Salem. The area around the Schloss was very nice and we strolled around a bit. The actual venue wasn't closed and we were lucky to be able to hear and see the soundcheck. At first we were sitting way back to not disturb, but then we moved closer. In the end there were about 20 - 30 people watching this little "private concert" as Chris called it. I was hoping to hear the new song Chris sometimes played during previous soundchecks, but not this time. But he sang "Here Is Your Paradise" which another one of my favourites. Anyway the soundcheck didn't take very long and we decided to drive to the "Affenberg" (monkey hill) which was close. In a very large preserve on a hill they have 202 Berber monkeys that live in the forrest. People can feed them with pop corn what I loved to do. It was very nice, but I would have expected it to be a bit larger. After feeding the monkeys we decided it was time for us to get something to eat as well. We drove back to Salem and in the next village found an Italian restaurant where we could sit outside. The food was excellent and it was also great to get a bit of a rest in the shade. Back at the venue we met with my friends Christine and Hanna. It was soo nice to see them again. We only arrived in the venue after the support act was over, so we can't tell if he was good or not. At the beginning of the show Chris said that it would be his last concert of this summer tour, but he promised us that it also would be the best. Well, I haven't been to all shows, but for sure it was a very good one. The atmosphere was great from the beginning. Well, why should anyone be in a bad mood in such a beautiful location? Chris also had a special guest right on the stage. It was a boy he knew from his vacations in Mauritius. Gerrit was sitting in a wheelchair as he was badly injured in a car accident. He was obviously a huge fan and it was great to see how much he enjoyed the show. It was very funny, as Chris told us about that he would love to be like Britney Spears the sound technicians played one of her songs. We all burst out laughing. And since he always jokes about the "Toten Hosen" when he puts on the head microphone and the different shape those "microphones" come in, Sibylle and I gave him a little basket at the end of "St. Peter's Gate" with a "Toten Hosen"-CD, a carrot, banana and cucumber in it. As we gave it to him he told the audience that this would be some different things and we would explain in a minute. So as he did this part he showed around the vegetables. The "Britney part" took ages and I think all people were up on their feet. But they all sat down again after Chris told them that there would be more dancing later. Finally after "Lady In Red" Chris invited us to get up and dance and of course we ran to the front. It wasn't far since we were sitting in the front row. That's when the real party started. I have no problem at all to sit down at the beginning, as long as I can get up at the end. After "High On Emotion" Chris thanked all the people working for him and for doing a great job. Of course at the end of the show we were hoping for the extra encore with the party songs. And we were not disappointed, because after shaking many hands after "The Snows Of New York" Chris did not leave the stage, but stayed and started playing "A Hard Days Night" and the other songs. It really was like a big party that could have gone on for hours. But after "Hey Jude" Chris finally left the stage. What a great concert!!! We walked back to our cars and shared some cookies and drinks. And for the first time this summer there were even stars on the sky!!!! Well, after a while it was time to say our good-byes to Christine and Hanna. Back at the hotel we sat down for another drink, then went off to bed. The next morning I went for a quick swim in the Bodensee and then after a lengthy breakfast Sibylle and I drove up to Stuttgart where she took a train back home. It was soo sad. Now we are all back to our "normal" lives but we had such a great time travelling around, meeting each other again, laughing sooo much. We sure "lived for the moment"!!!! Take care and have a nice Sunday, Andrea and Sibylle |
