Chris Williams:
Hi all,
well here is a little review about our trip to Stuttgart and the
actual concert.
Well we had a lovely breakfast at the 5 star 'Hotel Konni Risse'
before starting out on the long journey to Stuttgart. This should
have taken about 3.5 hours, but took more like 4.5 hours due to
heavy traffic and several lots of roadworks. But of course we had
left plenty of extra time to cover problems like this!! We arrived
at the hotel where we were staying, had a small rest and then left
to meet Konni's uncle who was going to attend his first CdeB
concert. After a snack and a drink, we all caught the train to near
the venue and walked the last 15 minutes or so.....it was cold and
very windy, but the time soon pasted.
As we arrived at the venue, I realised that I had been there once
before in 1999, and the security were very strict then, checking
everybodies bags etc, but this time, we just walksed in with out any
search or our bags. We found out seats and chatted amongst other
friends and soon it was time for the concert to begin. The stage was
fairly high and very large, which I really do not like as it kind of
puts a barrier between Chris and his audience, and the energy cannot
flow as easily.
Chris was dressed in white shirt and black everything else. From
very near the start, I could see that Security was going to
very 'stroppy' as they stopped 2 ladies from taking flowerts upto
Chris after about the third song. But thankfully Chris saw this was
happening and a few songs later the ladies tried again and were
succesfull. What really amazed me was that they would not allow
this, but they allowed people to hold up lite sparklers during The
Same Sun etc. Now to me, this practice is awful and very
dangerous.....far worse than just taking a gift to the stage.
Chris was in good voice, and interacted with the audience well, with
a few small chats here and there. At one point someone took him up a
massive basket of food or wine, and he was very happy, and it really
did look heavy as he carried it to the side of the stage!!
The part where Chris does 'The Morror Of The Soul' is growing on me
after each night, but i have to confess that I did not really like
it to start with, and one the first night in Birmingham Chris looked
very very nervous doing this routine. he look soo much more
comfortable now though, but i still worry that he might fall when he
leans right over the edge.......but of course, I would be then in my
elemnt giving him first aid ;-)
At several points later in the first halve of the show, security
still stopped people going to the stage, but some lucky people
managed to beat the guards and get to the stage!! nope it was not
me, i remained in my seat all night..well till the fast bit anyway.
Just before the start of the very quiet bit where Chris and the band
all sit in the middle of the stage, a few ladies managed to rush
past the security gauds and stood by the stage to give things to
Chris......now suddenly some other fans decided to all rush to the
stage at this point, and very soon the area infront of the stage was
very full. this was actually before the 'quiet bit' even started, so
of course we had to join in as well!! the security tried to make
evryone go back to their seats but there were too many people there
for them to make go back. It was kind of thier own fault as they had
stopped soo many people just taking gifts upto Chris. Finally I
think that they realised that they had lost, so 3 men just stayed
right infront of the stage to stop anyone getting to near I guess!!!
the one that stood infront of me was very tall indeed and everytime
I tired to move next to Konni, he moved infront of me again, but he
never ruined my evening, as I was determined not to let him, and
when I held my light stick up, could I help it that it was right in
front of his eyes ;-) or that my singing was quite loud that
night......right into his ears!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Only too soon it was 23:00hrs and the end of the show. Where do
those 3 hours go each evening. they just seem to fly by.
As it was my Birthday after 24:00 hrs that night, a groupd of my
friends and I decided to meet in a hotel bar and have a small
celebration. It was really nice and once again I thank all my
friends for making my 'special day' so special, as I don't normally
celebrate my birthday at all. Now I have even more stuff to take
back to England with me, but I really don't mind, and I love all the
presents that I got :-))))))))))))))))Gosh it was soo late when we
got to bed that night....or should I say morning.....I think it was
about 03:00hrs and I was still very sober as I had only had 1
drink!!!! We were just drunk on 'emotion'!!!!
After about 5 hours of sleep we all got back up, had a nice
breakfast adn then returned to Konnis house. We arrived home ther
late afternoon, had some supper, and then went to bed pretty early.
We were all extremely tired.
Now after a good nights rest, we are having a nice lazy day, before
we leave for Dusseldorf later this afternoon.
Well thats about all for now!!
take care all,
Chris(W)thebluehealer
