Alexander Schestag:

Hi all,

I would like to add my review of the Bielefeld concert. For me, it was the best of all three concerts I attended. But let's start at the beginning. :-)

On Monday afternoon, Sabine, Christian - a friend of us - and I met in Bielefeld. We decided to meet in Bielefeld one day before the concert and it was a good decision. The weather was great and we had a great time.

On the next day, first of all, we bought a ticket for Christian because he wanted to attend the concert, too. He even got a ticket in the same row next to our seats. After that, Monica joined us. We went to a candy store to buy some filled chocolate for Chris. The chocolate was said to be typical for Bielefeld. After having lunch, Sabine, Monika, Christian and I went to the Ravensberger Park. Unfortunately, it began to rain on our way to the park, so we waited under a tree because we wanted to hear the sound check - but we should wait in vain. Later, Jason, the man running the merchandising stand, told us that the sound check was shortly before our arrival. What a pity!

At about 6:30 p.m. we were allowed to enter the park. There, I bought a tour shirt and the Christyna Myles maxi single. First, we were very disappointed as we realised that our seats were at the very right corner again, which would have made it impossible for us to watch the videos. So, we asked the security if we could get other seats in the middle of our row, and for the first time, the security chief decided that Sabine and I could sit in the middle. In Mainz, they didn't allow me to sit in the middle to watch the videos. Thanks a lot for making this possible in Bielefeld to the friendly man with the cowboy hat! And thanks to Jason for bringing me a rain cape which was really necessary. :-) Christian, who had a seat right beside us, now had to sit alone without us as neighbours. But I am sure, he enjoyed the concert anyway. :-)

Of course, we met some list members, too, Doris, Ursula and some more. This is one of the things that make these concerts special for me. You always meet people you know.

The concert itself was great. Chris was in a very good mood and his voice was excellent and the weather was funny, too. It was very wet and every time I clapped, my face was showered with water from my rain cape. ;-) Chris really made me laugh when he told us that he had asked God for good weather - and got it the wrong day, the day before the concert. ;-) After "Borderline" (with guitar solo! ;-) Sabine, Monica and I went to the stage to bring him our gifts.

The video part was somehow special for me, because, for the first time, I could watch all the videos without a box or a bar placed between me and the stage. For the first time, there was also a morph "video" showing Chris becoming Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. This was very funny.

"The Leader" video and the song were something special on that day. Watching this video is always very upsetting for me and I don't feel ashamed to admit that it made me cry again. But watching it in Bielefeld was even more thrilling. The concert was one day after the 62nd anniversary of the Hiroshima nuclear bombing. That was the first thing that came into my mind when Chris began to play "The Leader", and of course, Chris mentioned it after the song. He said that it had been thrilling to sing this song one day after this anniversary. And I would like to add that it was not less thrilling to listen to it on that day. Unfortunately, people rushed to the front for the party part at the end of "What About Me?". I think it would have been more respectful to wait until the ending of this song.

Unfortunately, after the great dancing part, the show was over too soon after two hours and twenty minutes. Compared with the set lists of Heilbronn and Mainz, he dropped five songs: The Storyman, Where Peaceful Waters Flow, The Last Time I Cried, At The End Of A Perfect Day and In A Country Churchyard. We all hoped that he would come back after The Snows Of New York to extend the last German concert a bit but he didn't. But though it was shorter than the other two concerts I attended, it was the best! Thanks to Chris, Christyna and the band for the wonderful shows, thanks to the crew for the good work which made the concerts possible, thanks to Jason and his female colleague at the merchandising stand for always being friendly no matter how stressful their job was. And of course thanks to all the fans we met at the concerts and who helped making these days perfect. :-) A special thanks goes to Sabine, Monica and Christian. It was fun spending three days with you. :-)
