Claudia Schreiber:

Hi friends,

for all who had to stay at home, here’s a little review of last night’s show. I’ll try to do my best to replace Chris W.’s work here!

After a hard weekend with a merchandise and information desk on the “Amphi Festival” in Cologne I started my journey to Dresden Radebeul at about 8.30 in the morning. I had 600 kms to go and thought I’d better start early. But although I had to cross Cologne highway A3 and though there were many speed limits up to the former border, it took me only 6 hours to arrive. Of course with a few short breaks for a coffee.

Once arrived and checked into my hotel, I went for a swim and sauna which belongs to the hotel. I really relaxed there, and after refreshing and dressing I had a perfect meal. Although I have to admit, since I don’t eat dead animals anymore, I find it hard to choose a meal…they all don’t offer many vegetarian meals at all.

Soon it was time to go to the venue. It was really, really lovely, surrounded by wine plants on little hills, the castle of course and a huge park. On one of the hills they had put many, many little tables and chairs, and people took the chance to sit down for a wine. I’ve never seen so many bottles of wine being drunk before a concert!

Then I went into the seat rows and saw the stage, which was 5 stairs up from the rows but in itself not really high, so I knew when it’s time to run to the stage and dance we would not have problems to see Chris and the band then. My seat neighbours were thankfully somehow familiar faces, sorry, I don’t know your names. But as I’m driving alone these 3 days, it was good to talk to somebody and have a laugh.

Then with the instrumental sounds of the Storyman the concert started, still with perfect sunshine above us. Chris walked on the stage, dressed in black trousers, the white shirt with stripes on it and his leather jacket. (Hi Chris W, I knew you’d like to know that *gg btw, the stripes seem to be blue, not green…)

The songs were the same as in Augsburg, but Chris left out “Sweetest kiss of all” and –what a pity!!! “Perfect day”…which is a shame, if you ask me *sigh*

The walk through the audience endured twice as long as usual, I don’t know how many choruses of LIR we heard…but Chris seemed to have real fun there.

When the first tunes of “The leader” started, there were 2 people coming up in front of the front row, kneeling on the grass…probably to have a better view on this extraordinary video-anyhow, they were not “crazy” ones trying to get to the stage. When security sent them away, Chris came down the steps (still singing!) and asked them back!! Of course soon another few people came as well, but without any problems. They did not disturb at all.

One song later it was time to dance anyway and we all had fun doing so.

During the faster songs it started to rain a bit, but nobody really cared. I was surprised what a party people were making there!!

When “Ferryman” started, there were suddenly 2 youngsters dancing on the stage, it’s been Al’s daughter (17) and the daughter of Chris A., she must be about 6 or 7. They really enjoyed themselves, and I wondered what great feeling for rhythm the little girl had…she was dancing perfectly right!

Much too soon the show was done and I went back to my hotel. After a long sleep I drove down to Potsdam today, and with the moment I arrived to the hotel the rain set in…now of course I hope the show will be dry, but I don’t really think so because forecast mentioned rain…

Take care all and don’t forget I still have 2 spare tickets for tomorrow’s show!

  Claudia
