Chris Williams:

Hi all,
Well here is my final review from our little UK tour!! We decided to
travel by train down to London , much easier than driving in the
centre of London. So after our breakfast we walked the 20 minutes
down to our local station and then let the train `take the strain' as
we travelled into London. Once there, we checked into our hotel and
then met up with Jacqueline again and we all went and had a snack to
eat. A nice walk in the park followed this but it was soooo cold that
I couldn't stay out too long as I was frozen, even with a thick
jacket on......it was the wind that made it soo cold.
After a nice hot shower to warm me up we then met up with Jacqueline
and Andrea again and then had a nice meal before the show.
Unfortunately by the time it was time to travel to the venue it was
pouring with rain and very windy.............that made for a `bad
hair' day!!
Once in the venue I could see straight away a nice low stage, but the
theatre looked very old indeed and also a bit tatty. Our little group
was all split up and as Stewart and I took our seats in the third
row, it was awful as there was no space at all to even put our legs
as the row in front was soo close. Some chairs seemed to be further
apart than others....trust us to have the seats we had!! Anyhow the
venue seemed to fill up quite quickly and there did not seem to
be `that' many empty seats around, apart from a couple in the front
row (more about that later).
Al was great as always, and soon it was time for Chris...the main man
so to speak!! Well just as the Storyman intro was playing, these 2
seats in the front row, albeit right to the side, were still empty,
so what should Stewart and I do.......wait for some other people to
move into them...NO WAY !! we quickly took them ourselves and prayed
that no one would arrive really late.....and thankfully they didn't.
Chris came out on stage in black jacket and trousers of course and a
LOVELY really blue shirt....may I say he looked `gorgeous' in that
colour.
The usual songs followed and I did wonder how he was going to do his
walk around bit as the front row was soo near the stage. But of
course he managed. Apparently Chris's family were all sitting in the
front row of the second section and as there was plenty of walk about
room in front of this row, Chris stopped right by Diane(his wife) and
sang some of LIR to her....from the tiny bit I could see, I think she
had her head facing down, I guess she was pretty embarrassed as he
sang quite a lot of the song to her and them kissed her and said `its
ok she's my wife'.....then he moved along and I think he kissed
Rosanna and again said ` and she's my daughter' , then he went round
some of the rest of the audience and danced with a couple of ladies
dressed in red.
Once back on stage, he sang Leningrad and Grace of A Dancer. I would
have had a lovely view of his head..unlike Bournemouth, BUT there was
a big glass of water blocking my view!!! Ah well, it looked a nice
glass anyway!!!
As it was the last night I gave Chris some roses and wine after
Missing You and another old friend of mine gave him some roses as
well, and we both got a big kiss :-) and apart from one other lady
who then handed him up some roses, these gifts were the only ones he
got all evening.
Of course Raging Storm was supreme as ever, do I have to say again
that I LOVE this song with Kristyna Myles!! At one point someone
shouted out for Lonely Sky and the band had to pause while Chris sang
some verses from it.....that was nice.
At the Leader, in the part fairly near the end of the son, as Chris
is standing there looking very solemn before he sings the final bit
of What about me and you etc.......someone near me shouted out `Smile
Chris'....................umm I think that was a bit inappropriate to
say in such a song.....but there you go, I guess it takes all sorts
of people to make up an audience.
Soon it was time for the fast bit and it was really funny as the 6
people right in the centre seats of the front row just sat there kind
of looking a bit quizzical as many people jumped up and got as near
the stage as possible to sing and dance and clap hands. I spotted 2
other people from the front row walk out during The Leader. I
spotted Chris R up dancing in the balcony and holding a banner
up.....Chris R I never heard your voice even at Spanish Train !!!
Soon it was time for the last few songs and during SONY the world
globe was sailing over the stage for a few minutes and before it was
directed into the audience it hovered right above Chris's head for a
few seconds and he pretended to push it away.
I was soo sad after this song as I know it is back to reality
tomorrow, and as I said goodbye to friends I wondered when we would
all meet up again.
Oops I forgot to say, I saw some very familiar German faces in the
crowd...hello Tina, Anke and gang!!
After we had said goodbye to Jason from the merchandising stand,
Andrea, Jacqueline, Stewart and myself went for a drink in a local
hotel and after a while we looked up and saw Kristyna Myles walking
into the bar with 2 men, I guess one was her manager and maybe the
other her husband, I don't know. Anyhow she talked with us for a
while and then her manager went away and a few minutes later came
back over to us with a pile of her CD and gave them to us all!!
Stewart and I already have a copy from summer, but we got another as
she very kindly took time to talk to us and sign the copies for us
all. That was a lovely ending to the tour. After a nice glass of wine
and a great fun time with friends we realised that we had missed the
last tube train back to our hotel, so we had to find the night bus,
and thankfully after a little walk we did find it and it dropped us
off right outside out hotel, where we took another glass of wine as
the bar was still open !! Well it was the end of the tour so we
needed something to take away the sorrow that we had to all go back
to reality and the real world!!
Chris de Burgh....if you read this.....4 concerts was not enough ;-)
Ok it was sure better than all our friends in countries that hardly
ever or never get to see a concert......but maybe another 2 would
have been great !!!!
So right now it is the next day and it is still pouring with rain and
Andrea, Stewart and myself are just about to start the journey back
to my house, where we will all have a few hours rest before we Drive
Andrea to the airport so she can catch her flight home.
I hope all who enjoy my adventures through my reports, have enjoyed
them!!
Take care all,
Chris(W)thebluehealer and roaming CdeB reporter..........soon going
back to reality and the real world.
