Woerthersee, Austria - July 30, 2007

Claudia Schreiber:

Hi everybody!!!

Well, what can I say…today this was one of the most strangest concerts I’ve ever been to. And this must be around 150 meanwhile….

Everything started quiet normal with the alarm going at 8 o’clock, cos I had not packed a single thing last night.

My mother picked my up at 10 (my new car is at the garage as rain comes in *no comment*) and I drove us to Cologne airport. So far, so good. We had a nice coffee and sparkling wine (as I always do before flights), and while chatting the time away it was suddenly time to enter the plane to Klagenfurt (Austria).

The flight itself was ok, but when we left our flying height and started to land (we could already see the landing area) suddenly the engines roared again and we were making height again! Something had gone wrong and so the pilot tried again…thank God the second try worked and we landed a bit rough but safely.

After getting our car we drove the little distance to our hotel which was quiet near the venue and checked in. Although it is called the “Schloßhotel Wörthersee” it was a bit disappointing, I expected a bit more…but anyway, we were lucky with the view onto the lake and after a little refresh we took the car to the venue. Later we found out that we were in walking distance, but anyway.

As we were still very hungry, my Mom and me walked along the coastline a bit and found a lovely little restaurant with beergarden named “Lido” (if I remember right) and sat down there. It was a bit cold already, and we decided to leave the jackets on! Btw, this is the moment to mention that yesterday they had announced the danger of ground frost for this area…..*wonder* I mean, it’s still summer, isn’t it???

We had a lovely meal from an Italian buffet, with many vegetables (grilled), salads and so on and of course I could not resist to try the (lovely) local beer.

After getting another pullover from the hotel, we walked inside the venue and even heard parts of the soundcheck during our way there. Chris did “In the ghetto”, which I really, really adore him to do!

Then the show itself started at 20.30 pm, with the Storyman theme. Chris was dressed in the already described shirt with blue stripes, and of course the leather jacket (closed from the beginning, as it was already really cold!!)

The setlist was similar to the last one. The stage was onside the water actually, while our seats were “on the land”. In between there was a little “bridge”, which did not really earn this name…it was a few pieces of wood, with strings of metal on the sides not to make people fall over. More concerning this bit later…

Of course Chris walked around the venue during LIR, and people actually LOVED it. More than anywhere else…I have to say, up to this part the mood was kind of frosty…but the walk took people on Chris’ side.

Anyway, after “The leader” Chris asked us to come to the stage and dance as usual, but as there was no barrier between the bridge and the stage but only a few steps, security asked us to leave the bridge again and pushed us back. Of course Chris came down to tell them to let us dance and God, how we did!!! We were soooo cold meanwhile, it really needed a good dance to warm us up.

For a song or so everything was fine, although the movement of the “bridge” was really scaring me!!! With about 30-40 people being on it, clapping and dancing, it started to flatter and as we all know, a certain beat, repeated often enough, may bring every bridge to its border…then security got a hint from the guys behind and told us to leave the bridge immediately. Poor Chris thought they were only taking us away, and came down again to finally tell them to let us dance. I’ve very rarely saw him being that angry…but then he got to know of the security reasons and of course everything was clear.

Funny enough, the more we were asked to go back, the more we had fun and started to dance and clap and enjoy ourselves. Chris did a really brilliant job in making us having an unforgettable party there!!

The funny part of this is, that once we were leaving the “bridge” they brought men and women onto it, in their hands this red thing that they always carry around in “BAYWATCH””!!!!!!!! I really had a good laugh and I took a picture of it…will upload it to my myspace site with a few nice concert pictures once I’m home again at the weekend…

After the show I spoke to the local people who were in charge for the venue, and they told me that the “bridge” has a permission for 300 kgs only!!! Imagine, we were about 30 people! And believe me, all of us were heavier than 10 kgs…so we all were very, very lucky that nothing happened there!!

For my mother I organized a souvenir of the special art…we convinced somebody to sell us a banner advertising Chris doing the show at the Wörthersee, it must be about 4x4 meters…and it will find a place in her house soon!

Once returned to our hotel we decided to have the last drink of the day in the bar next door, an guess what: I finally GOT MY GLUEHWEIN there!!! Gosh, how it was warming me up!!!! And remember, it’s July 30th…..did anybody announce a global warming? Well, where is it then?????

Now it’s time to go to bed, after a long day and looking forward to meet many friends tomorrow at the Chiemsee.

Bye for now, and sorry for doing such a long review!!!
