Andera Lucas:
Hello to everyone,
The concert started as usual and Chris came on stage wearing a white shirt and an open
leather jacket. He had the jacket closed for the second part of the concert. After the
first two songs he greeted the audience and pronounced “Benediktbeuern” with his lovely
accent. He also mentioned that it would be Benediktbeuern, not Benediktbeuren. People
having tickets for Benediktbeuren would be at the wrong place – or something like this.
Already during the first part of the show he got a couple of presents. After “Without
You” he got some more and said it would be like his birthday. He then asked if there
would be people in the audience celebrating their birthday and of course there were a
few. So he and the band sang and played a spontaneous “Happy Birthday” for them. At
first it didn’t work that well and he said something like it would sound like at a
funeral, but then they did it really good. Chris said to us that we might have noticed
they hadn’t practised this. It was very nice though.
At some point of the show he spoke about the local beer and asked the audience which
brand it would be, but there wasn’t an answer. But after the “Happy Birthday”, three
young lads (obviously from the beer stand) walked on stage carrying five glasses with
beer for Chris and the band. Oh, just remembered that as often Chris said the beer
inside the venue would be free – yes, of course….
During the break I had nice, though only short chats with Angelika and Anke. It was nice
to meet you again!!! I also talked to Elke, Jutta, Claudia and Anja.
After the break Chris again came out of the back stage area to walk along the audience,
then walking up the stairs to the stage.
As usual Nick from the stage crew brought “vodka” for Chris and the band members before
they start playing “Moonlight And Vodka”. Usually it might just be water, but already
Tony said “Oh, Schnaps” as he tasted his and then Chris said it wasn’t vodka or water,
but something like Williams schnaps.
After “Borderline” many people stood up to give Chris a standing ovation. He did mention
the concert in Tuessling and said that there he had sung an extra song, which he did
again. So we heard “Always On My Mind” again, I do not complain During his solo part
some people gathered on the right side of the stage, but security didn’t allow them to
come closer. Only after he had been back from his “Lady In Red” walk they were allowed
to go to the stage, but of course then many more people got up – including me
The dancing part was really good again. Gosh, I love “Africa” and the other songs like
“The Words I Love You”, “Bal Masqué” and “Ship To Shore”. This part of the concert is
just soo powerful. After the show my friend Heike (who is not a real CdeB fan and had
a seat waaaay back) told me how much she had enjoyed it and that she just had to come
forward for the dancing part. I am really glad she had such a lot of fun.
After the show we drove back to our hotel and had a drink before going to bed. On Sunday
morning the weather was absolutely gorgeous and I went for a swim in the open air pool
of the hotel. The sunshine was soo bright, it brought tears into my eyes. We enjoyed a
delicious breakfast on the terrace, then drove back home and arrived in the afternoon.
Thankfully just a few minor hold-ups.
This weekend in Bavaria was just about perfect, it was like a vacation!!! It’s such a
beautiful region of Germany, definitely worth going there, especially when the weather
is that nice.
Well, that’s it for now, I need to pack for the next and last part of “Lucas-Travels”
tour and then pick up Jacqueline at Stuttgart airport who will travel with me now. Take
care and see at least some of you later this week,
Andrea
