Concert Review: London, UK - August 13, 1999

Henoch Neethling:

I would have thought that I would be the last to say anything about last night, but to break the silence I suppose would be good for those of you who are starved for info.

The concert was, certainly for my experience, very different. A lot more rocksongs, with the new band and everything. So perhaps the songs which I can remember him doing (I had no notepaper)

Carry on
Here is your paradise
Transmission Ends
The son and the father (on request of Michael his son, who was on the stage)
Lonely Sky
Natasha Dance
Love of the life devine (this was amazing, and I will buy the new CD to hear this again, what with the other two new songs not really anything special)
Borderline
Spanish Train
Patricia the stripper (surprisingly early)
A spaceman came travelling
Always on my mind
Sailing away
Love has got a hold
When I think of you (why they those this to be the single is beyong me)
Oh my bravehearts
Brother John
House of the rising sun (Chris shouldn't do this in concert, it didnt work)
Hotel California
Missing you (very different, with the band)
It's me
Peter with his two funsongs
Lady in Red
Revolution
One more mile to go
The snows of New york
Dont pay the ferryman
Say goodbye to it all
High on emotion
Where peaceful waters flow
Hey Jude

So, in the end, a really cool selection, despite the cutting of carry me like a fire in your heart, and the missing of the chance to sing a new star in heaven tonight, it been Kensington and all. The crowd was reasonably ok, but I think I missed some of the atmosphere because I was right at the front, but I also missed the rain because of that. So, in the end, I went home with the idea that perhaps I have seen this to many times, and wondering if the CD will have any more surprises like the gripping love/war song Love of a life devine...
