Concert Review: Aschaffenburg, Germany - May 13, 2000

Sandra Pleyer:

About half past five I arrived together with a friend at the Unterfrankenhalle". At the entrance there were about thirty people. Of course there were some members of this mailing-list as well. I discovered Diana, Sven, Nicole, Hannelore and some others. As we didn't want to wait there for such a long while, my friend and I decided to walk around a little bit. We wanted to sit down in a café or wanted to have an ice-cream, but couldn't find anything. So we stood around at the back-entrance an talked with other fans. The band and Chris were also there not too far away from us. Then I discovered a young english speaking lady with her mother. I don't know why, but I thought perhaps this is the often mentioned "bouncing ball". Later on, during the concert, I saw she was "bouncing ball". At 7 o'clock we returned to the main-entrance an went into the hall. After the concert in Kassel (where I stood in the 2nd row) I was a little bit sad, because for Aschaffenburg I had tickets for seats and was sure there wouldn't be such a good atmosphere and we would be quite far away. Therefore my friend and I decided not to go to our seats but to go in front of the stage and to dispense with the right on a seat. And this was a very good decision, we had a good view not far away from the stage.

And now to the concert itself. As usual it started a little bit later, at 8:15 pm. The concert was not sold out, but good filled. Don't ask me how many people there were, I'm not good in estimating that. And the audience was fantasic and very soon they (or we) started singing: "Jetzt geht's los". And Chris seemed to be in a very good mood as well. And I think he was impressed by this "good audience". The songs were nearly the same like in the last concerts, so it's not necessary to mention it detailed. He changed the Beatels-section a little bit. But please forgive me, to be honest I don't remember what he played. (I'm getting older). I'm sure anybody can help me. The crowd started singing "Hey Jude", but he didn't follow us. As you know, he wanted to keep this for the end. During his solo-part, someone requested "Forevermore" and he was doing this. I liked it, because, I think I never heard it live before. And of course before they started playing "My lover is" a sheep was thrown onto the stage. But not only a sheep, a frog as well. It was from Nicole (that's right, isn't it?) Chris spoke with the sheep and let the sheep sing. All in all the audience, Chris and the band (that was my impression) had much fun. But for me Chris seemed to be a little bit tired. He took a few little breaks, and once I saw him sitting in front of drums and he really looked tired. After three hours the conert ended with "Hey Jude". After the show we met again with a few from the list and went to the back entrance. We thought that we could have a look at Chris and band when they were leaving. At first the band entered the bus and the last on who came was CdeB. He was willing to give a few autographs. I didn't expect that, but now I couldn't resist to get my CdeB-Mailing-List-T-Shirt signed. Wow!!! Diana and Nicole did the same. And after that you could look in the faces of three women with a big smile. Then everything was over and we drove home. It was a fantastic, amazing, memorable night.

Today I have different feelings. One the one hand I'm very happy about the last night. But on the other hand I'm sad that a fantastic week with two concerts for me (Kassel and Aschaffenburg) is over now. But I'll try to keep the good memories for a long time. And I'm looking forward to all the reviews in the next weeks of all of you.

Okay, that's enough for now. I'm sorry about my mistaks and my German-English, but I'm quite sure you can unterstand my English and that's the important thing.
