Concert Review: Kassel, Germany - May 6, 2000

Sven Kistner

It was fantastic to see Chris playing in my hometown again and it was a memorable night. He started playing at 8:13 pm ( as he did the night before ) and he seemed to be in a very good mood. After a short warm-up-phase the audience was fantastic, too.

It was not sold out but well filled and Chris and his band had loads of fun. It was very hot inside the arena ( outside temperature was about 26 C and inside it seemed to be even more ) and we all were sweating from the beginning, imagine how it must have been for Chris on stage...but as you all know he managed it !!!

He played his Beatles section and Hotel California and Honky Tonk Woman and you could easily see how surprised some visitors, who do not attend many of his concerts, were about the fact that he cannot only play and sing his own songs.

After Quiet revolution he asked us to come to the stage and many people who had been waiting in the aisle for quite a while ran up to the front and danced like fools. Claudia Schneider was already there, but she will tell you this story later...

He finished his show with Hey Jude ( slightly modified to the autumn concerts ) after more than three hours of brilliant entertainment and I think everybody went home very delighted. After the show we went out to have something to eat with a few other list members and talked about this great concert.

It was really extraordinary and I am looking forward to seeing him next week in Aschaffenburg. I hope the concert will be as good as the one yesterday !!!
