Concert Review: Bremen, Germany (Nokia Night Of The Proms) - December 12, 2001
Stephanie Breitlauch:
Just a short note on the NOTP in Bremen last night. First of all I am very sorry that I did not have the time to meet any list members because my husband and I had to work late and therefore arrived late and also had to leave earlier. Especially I feel sorry not to have met Heike S. and her husband but we will definitety see each other next year in Bremen because I sit in the first row seat 19 right next to you...
The show itself was really good. Even my husband (who is not quite a CdeB fan) thought, that his performance was the best and finally "woke up" the audience out of their trance. He did the same 4 songs as in Munich and told funny stories in between (even the rather elderly couple next to us died laughing...). The performance was much to short in my opinion though...! But now I am even more looking forward to the concerts next year.
One last word on Meat Loaf: while Chris de Burgh was really High on Emotion, Meat Loaf actually seemed to be really High on Drugs...
Heike Stelljes:
Steph told just something about NOTP in Bremen and Chris' performance. He was really first-class and indeed his performance was the best. He talked about Bremen, his Hotel and Milka cows and Kelloggs. LIR, Snows of New York. Like in Oberhausen he sang a little bit from American Pie and talked about Football, sang 'Hey baby...(I wonna know if you would give me goals, one, two and so on). Then Don't Pay The Ferryman with the help of the audience, who have to shout 'Don't do it' and at least (too earlier) High On Emotion. Nobody stayed on his seat. He was really high on emotion, jumped off the stage with his microphone and run along the front row and back between fifth and sixth row and jumped back on the stage. It ended with his fall to the ground. Standing ovations and the audience tried to shout for an encore, but no chance. Alas, the best part of the show was over. Much too short, but....better than nothing. And then the break and I had kind of thought to leave, but....
In the main the show was really well worth seeing. I like Il Novencento and Fine Fleur and their performance with CdeB. The other artists....Ähemmmm! Especially Meat Loaf ... First I thought he was under drugs (like Steph said), but my husband told me, he has seen him many years ago in Hamburg and Meat Loaf always was a little bit crazy. I like his music (Studio CD), but I don't like his behaviour on the stage. This man drives my nervous and his performance was too long, and I was glad, when it was over. The finale with Hope and Glory was real good and then all together sang Yellow submarine. Chris had a short solo part, but hardly I could understand him. I suppose, he was the first who throwed his flowers to the audience. And that it was.....and now....I have to wait ten long months for the first concert next year. I hope, I can wait....
