Concert Review: Birmingham, UK - November 9, 2002

John Collins:

Well, people, I did tell you it would be a great night, and despite Chris's
recent illness this was one hell of a concert! This is my brief report before
I go to bed, if I can sleep!

With the Brummie crowd getting behind Chris and cheering him on, and clapping
every song like they had not heard it in years, Chris was never going to go
wrong.

The list of songs you now know, but out of the old songs, the one I loved to
hear tonight was Where We Will Be Going. I don't know if this happens to
anyone else, but my hair stands up on my neck when I hear this song, and to
hear it live again was just fantastic. It happened again when I heard
Lebanese nights, this song just gets better every time I hear it, and to hear
it for the first time in concert was just something else again!

I said weeks ago that The Best That Love Can Be, was one of the best tracks
on TIE. Hearing the song tonight live, once again put tears in my eyes. It
got a tremendous ovation tonight in Birmingham, and rightfully so.

The highlight of the night for me was the last number Snows Of New York.
Call me biased if you like, but this is just brilliant. It is about time
Chris just told everybody he sings it in honour of my web site :-) I love
dreaming!

Throughout the performance Chris looked relaxed, and had a great rapport with
the audience. His voice was still not A1 but I thought he seemed to cope very
well, I did notice him change key a few times, I know the feeling as I have
to all the time Chris!

Chris and the Band seemed to enjoy themselves, I certainly did (despite me
having a cold and dosed up with day nurse cold mixture) and I really look
forward to seeing him again next year.

Thanks for coming again Chris and performing despite your illness.
