Concert Review: London, UK - November 11, 2002

Sandra Pleyer:

Wow, I was really excited, my first concert in the RAH, I'm sure that would be
something very special. And indeed, it was!!! When we entered the RAH, I was so
impressed. What a marvellous place for a concert, all in red and gold.
Diane already has described it. Couldn't believe that I was really there and not
just dreaming. We said hallo to some more listmembers (Marietta, Yogi, Claudia
and friends, Chris and Stewart, Angelique and friends, Gabi and Lawrence). It
was fantastic to meet you all. Soon the concert started with Martyn Joseph.
Having listened to a few songs of him before (our friend Nugie is a big fan of
him, and let us listen to his songs) I was curious to hear and see him as well.
And I wasn't disappointed. Really liked him!! At first I didn't dare to take
some photos, but when I saw some flashes I took some photos as well, especially
for Nugie. Oh, I've forgotten to tell you that we had fantastic seats in the 4th
row, directly in the middle of the stage in front of Chris. (Diana and I were
the lucky ones, who bought the tickets from Simon, who unfortunately couldn't
make it to London). Then Chris entered the stage. :-)) It was really a relief to
hear that his voice seemed to be quite okay again. For me Chris seemed to be in
a very good mood, he was very talkative, smiled a lot. Interesting for us
Germans to hear him speak in England, he speaks more quickly and uses a
differend kind of language, it's more difficult to understand him, but that
didn't matter. But speaking slowly in foreigen countrys shows again how much he
cares about his audience. Highlights for me were the accoustic session (I love
this part) and his solo part with "Perfect day" and "Once upon a time". I had
hoped that he would sing this one. Great!!! During the solo part a woman walked
directly onto the stage to Chris. Funny, in Germany that wouldn't be possible.
He missed out "If beds could talk" and "Timing is everything" but nevertheless
the show lasted about 2 hours and 45 minutes. I liked the atmosphere very much,
we very clapping a lot and the audience seemed to enjoy the show as well. Then
Chris invited us to dance. Hmmm, there was not much space between the first row
and the stage, but we tried to get to the stage nevertheless. I had thought if I
could dare that, because standing is quite hard for my foot and I someone would
step on it it would be very bad. But I couldn't resist.....And it worked, I
enjoyed this last part so much, we were so close to the stage, and it was
fantastic that the stage was so low. :-))I totally forgot my aching foot. ;-)
Meanwhile I've got used to SONY as last song and I think it's a perfect end for
the concert, I don't miss Hey Jude anymore.
