Concert Review: Munich, Germany - October 17, 2002

Elisabeth Motsch:

My concert "adventure" already began on Wednesday evening, when I
slipped off the stairs at home and badly injured my right foot. Oh
dear, that's it, I thought, and was already picturing myself sitting
at home on Thursday evening, watching CdeB videos, and thinking of
Chris and all the lucky ones in the Olympiahalle…
Thursday morning, the doctor told me I had a rupture of a ligament
in the right foot and gave me an ankle cast and a pair of crutches,
which saved my day (or better, my evening).
Thank you, Nugie, Lisa and Colette, for making it possible that I
could exchange my standing ticket for a seat ticket (an excellent
seat, btw.)!!!
So we all met in front of the Olympiahalle – Nugie, a friend of
hers, Lisa, Colette, Angelika, Sandra, Diana, Anke, Tina, a girl
from Slowakia whose name I don't remember … I hope I haven't
forgotten anyone. It was cold and rainy, but – so what?!?
When the doors finally opened, the girls with the standing tickets
dashed in to get to the front of the stage. Angelika, her friend and
I, who all had seat tickets, took it easy and first had a little
snack before taking our seats.
After ages, the show finally started with Guilty Secret, Missing
You, and Living in the World. And then – HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
CHRIS! – I bet he didn't expect that!!! What a great idea to sing a
birthday song for him!
Another nice surprise: Chris sang "Where we will be going"! Btw, he
was wearing a WHITE shirt this time.
The lineup of the songs was very similar to those mentioned in
earlier concert reviews and also in Regensburg, with the exception
that he didn't sing "Where we will be going", but he did
sing "Perfect Day" in Regensburg. It was great to see him again
after just two weeks!!!
Having a seat ticket this time, I was in the middle of
the "ordinary" concert goers (not the "crazy" ones in the arena).
Boy, Chris did have a hard job getting these people moving!!! Hardly
anybody was standing, dancing or singing until the end, when the old
faves, such as Don't pay the Ferryman or High on Emotion were
played. He did get a lot of applause, though, so people seemed to
enjoy themselves. Still, I can never understand how people can sit
quietly, hardly moving, without singing and clapping, through a CdeB
concert…
After the show, we all met in front of the stage and decided to go
to a small Italian restaurant near Marienplatz, where Peter was
celebrating his XXth birthday. Thank you very much again, Peter, for
your kind invitation, and may you have many more happy birthday
celebrations!!!
Unfortunately, we had to leave very early, because the last U-Bahn
(subway) was leaving at approx. 1:00 a.m. on Friday morning.
Well, this was the end of a perfect day, and for me it was double
precious, as things looked quite bleak the night before…
Anyway, it was great to see many familiar faces again, and I am
looking very much forward to meeting some of you again in London on
November 11th!
