Concert Review: Nottingham, UK - November 2, 2002

Ruth German:

I was there! Last saturday night at the Ice arena in Nottingham, for the
opening night of his UK leg of the world tour..

What can I say? Fab! Brill! excellent! Months of waiting came to an end as
shortly after 7.30pm last saturday evening Chris took to the stage. I have
to say that He seemed disapointed by the amount of people there and frankly
so was I. The half or the arena that we were in was little over half full
but then who cares! I was there and thats what counts. Anyway enough of
that and so to the review.....

Chris was fantastic!!!!!! From start to finish and that was some 2 1/2
hours (not that I was counting) He began with Lebanese night from the new
album and then we went into a one new one old pattern for most of the
evening, I was singing myself hoarse from start to finish and was cheering
and whistling when he sang St. Peters gate, which has to be an all time
favourite of mine since he performed it at Belvoir last year. The whole
arena was hand clapping and foot tapping in time to the beat of his songs,
and I think Chris gets better with age. He also sang Borderline and when
its gets to the part about men seeing the wisdom in a war the WHOLE ARENA
was clapping and cheering. Chris had been playing the piano during this
song while the band took a break and he stopped playing and spoke to us
almost as if there was just him and one other rather than an arena full
of adoring fans. Later on in the concert towards the end he came and sat
on the edge of the stage just inches away fr!
om the fans and carried on singing.
After the concert ended, and we had cheered him back for two encores he
again came and sat on the edge of the stage. This time however the fans
right at his feet literally lifted him down from the stage to the arena
floor! How I wish I had Been closer at that point. Anyway as you will have
gathered it was a fantastic evening I wish I could afford to go to every
concert on the tour because I really really would.

I would recommend anyone who hasn't yet bought tickets to get out there
and do it its worth every penny you'll pay and more.
Where and when is he touring again? Cos I can't wait..!!!!!!!!!!!
