Concert Review: Nürnberg, Germany - October 2, 2002
Nicole Buhr:
I finished work at three in the afternoon and took the train from Munich to Nurnberg. The train was so overcrowded that I spent nearly the whole journey sitting on the floor. After 2 1/2 hours I arrived in Nurnberg and I was picked up by my booyfriend's cousin where we would spend the night. From there we (my boyfriend Tilo and I) went to the concert hall by bike. That was strange, I never went to a concert by bike! We had tickets for the front row where we met Anke (hi! see you in Wurzburg! :-)) and later on Lisa and Britta from the list. While we were standing around somebody suddenly said: "Ah, the fan club is here as well!" I looked up and saw Christian von Stetten smiling at me. This man has organized some summer open airs in the past like the one in Schwabisch Hall, for example. He's a very nice guy and we talked to him briefly about any future ones maybe next summer but he couldn't tell us any news yet. When the concert started we were a bit worried how the audience would react because the hall was not at all sold out, many free blocks :-( and there were no cheers when the band entered the stage, only when Chris came on stage the audience began to clap. Oh dear! During the first songs we were nearly the only ones who clapped and sang along which got us some smiles from Chris and the band :-) Fortunately after some songs the audience began to relax and showed more enthusiasm. After St. Peter's Gate Anke and I, we were thinking of starting to sing the chorus again like we did in Cologne, but then decided not to because there were only the two of us. But then Chris began to sing "Nobody will get through..." so we joined in and sang the whole chorus on our own with Chris smiling at us ... after the concert I asked Tilo if we were the only ones singing and he said: "Well, I think so, I heard someone singing on my right side but it was mainly you and Anke." Ehem, talk about embarrassing moments... During TBTLCB Chris sat down at the edge of the stage directly in front of us and he sang the song with so much emotions, I was just melting away in my seat - so beautiful! *sigh* Soon came Revolution and the dancing part started - but still many people stayed on their seats and did not get up until HoE! But we had a lot of fun in front of the stage. Again, Chris got a lot of applause for his statement on the Iraq Crisis. He sang "If you really love her let her go" again in the solo section which was nice. No Patricia this time but he did sing Spanish Train. The last part was pure fun and dancing and far too soon the concert ended with SONY where the band added an extra bit while Chris shook as many hands as he could reach before he left the stage. I was a bit sad that he left out Hey Jude again but what I missed most was to have more list friends around me. Okay, there were Anke, Britta and Bianka (not to forget my boyfriend ;-)) but I enjoyed the concerts in Grefrath and Cologne more just because there were more people from the list around. I am really looking forward to the concert in Munich as there will be more listmembers to enjoy the concert with. Another positive thing I noticed: the band are getting better and better! The new members are now really a "part" of the band and you can hear (and see!) that. After the concert I went to the backstage entrance where already other people were waiting for Chris. He was very nice and signed a lot of things including my t-shirt :-)) and smiled a lot. When I told him that this is a special mailing list t-shirt, he put on an even bigger smile and said "Oh yes, I've recognized it!" :-) The perfect ending of a good concert.
