Concert Review: Berlin, Germany - July 15, 2003
Bianka Gräming:
Hi Everyone, just got back from Berlin. It was really nice to see this show especially because this time it was with band and orchestra. And Chris included "road to freedom" into the programme. He said though that he hadn't finished that song yet. But he sang two verses. Anyway. Let me talk from the beginning quickly as I had the chance to speak just a very little bit with two band members. Not much of talking. it was just that they greeted us as we approached the Gendarmenmarkt where the concert took place. Well, the first part stqarted with Carry on and "here is your paradise". Chris continued with songs such as "sailing away" save me, "transmission ends" "borderline" "natasha dance" ... just the few I remember still. And after the solo part which ended I think with "prety woman" they had a 35-minute break till the orchestra came on stage. And then I felt reminded of the 1996 tour: "carry me", "one more mile to go", "missing you" and, I was especially happy about this one, "the long and winding road". really a great version. Chris finished with "hey jude". Anyway. all in all a great concert. But what I didn't like again was the security personnel. At the beginning of part 2 we stood just on the side and almost got sent off because we refused to take seats. When we finally took seats, but not in our row, we saw someone getting to the stage. and so we also went to give flowers to chris. We went back to the seats and then a lady came up to us and offered us seats in the first row. I believe she herself took our seats then or what ever. Finally in the end, Ok, was not the end but "revolution" many people got to the stage. I asume that now that many people got to the stage the security personnel couldn't do anything against it anymore, even though they had said to us that the concert agency wouldn't like to see people standing quite in front, but still behind a kind of barrier, it was a rope actually. Anyway. I really enjoyed the show and am now looking forward to Kuenzelsau. Too bad there isn't another show next saturday. Bianka
