Concert Review: Saint John, Canada - May 31, 2003

Blair Sawler:

Hi all

The concert last night was fantastic. My wife Michelle and I drove dropped
off our 5 1/2 year old Parker with friends where he was staying the night,
and then dropped Spenser, our 11 month old off with Michelle's parents. We
drove down to Saint John, which is about 1 hours drive from Fredericton (we
live in a village (New Maryland) outside the city of Fredericton).

We had a great seafood dinner--steamed clams, mussels, and lobster, a few
drinks, etc. Then we walked over to the concert. It was nearly sold out.

Chris walked out on stage to enormous applause (of course), walked over to
the piano and opened with Here is your Paradise. I won't list the entire
set, as it is nearly the same as the others. Just in a different order. It
was nice hearing Sailor, Moonlight and Vodka, etc. He was very gracious
throughout the concert, thanked the crowd after each and every song, etc.
He was very funny as well.

He did play Where Peaceful Waters Flow--not at the end though! I think
that was the first concert out of six where he has not played it at the
end of the concert (before or during an encore). He had two encores and
finished the evening off with The Snows of New York. Beautiful.

It was funny to see so many people who loved all of his old songs, but
when he played a few songs from Timing is Everything (The Best that Love
can be and Lebanese Night) and from Quiet Revolution (St. Peter's Gate,
The Same Sun), the crowd did not know the songs! Well a couple of us did
anyway :-)

As usual, CdeB put on a fantastic show--I look forward to his next tour in
Canada!!
