Concert Review: Basel, Switzerland - June 13, 2004
Chris Williams:
Hi all, so here is our Basel review !! we arrived very tired in Basel after a 6 hour journey, and as soon as we had found our hotel for the night, we explored the local area and had a nice walk, even crossing the river Rhine.....on a ferry boat..........we tried to 'not pay the ferryman till the other side' ;-) .....but he would not let us on till we had paid !!!!!!!! It was a strange kind of ferryboat.... it was pulled across the fast flowing river on some kind of 'pulley system', but it was fun anyway and we made it safely to the other side, where we sat in a cafe and had a nice cool drink as it was sooo hot.....what a difference to the day before !! Soon it was time to leave for the actual concert, and we took our places and waited for the concert to begin. What a change from the night before...the stage was very low, very much nicer than the horrible stage the night before !! Chris came on stage about 5 minutes late only, and was wearing a white shirt and black trousers of course !! He made several references to how cold it had been the night before, yes we could agree with that..it was apparently only 9* Celsius :-((((((( The audience was clapping from the first song, but when it came to the 'Britney Spears' walkabout bit......hardly anyone stood up as people usually do, but of course we did ;-) but only for that section. But after this section had finished, the audience just would not stop clapping !! They had really enjoyed it. The set list was the same as the previous shows, maybe he just changed it for the one concert the previous evening. So I was happy that some of my favourites were back in, including 'Songbird' :-) and for Dany, The Rose Of England. Only too soon it was time for the fast bit at the end of the show, and I was surprised when some of the audience ran to the stage before Where Peaceful Waters Flow, so of course we joined them !! Chris chose Andrea and her watch for the gag about it's time to go home :-) She still hasn't washed that hand yet ;-) ......only joking here !!!! After the Snows Of New York, Chris really did leave the stage and within a couple of seconds the house lights came on and we knew that Chris would not be coming back again :-(so no extra songs last night. We think at times during the show last night Chris looked a bit tired...............mind you I was really tired and for about 20 minutes in the middle of the show, I could not stop yawning.... I was just soooooo tired :-( I know its my own fault I can hear you all say !!! So after the concert was over we all went straight to bed. Now as I write this we are on our way to Zurich, for the last concert in our 'girls only' week, But we have had such fun, we really have, 3 girls 'on the road' together, just having a great time and all this happened only because of Chris, his music, and the CdeB internet mailing list, as without this list we would never ever have met.....and now we are the best of friends :-)) Well this report of course has been written by Chris (W) of course, the 'bluehealer' and the roaming CdeB reporter ;-) Andrea, the co driver today and Dany who is the driver today and has already learnt 2 new things today.........these being .........you must always check under your bed before you leave a hotel, incase you have left anything ;-) and now, that she cannot provide any light for Chris to type this while driving through all the Swiss tunnels !!!!!!!!!!!!!! take care all, Chris (W) Andrea and Dany.
