Concert Review: Edinburgh, UK - October 5, 2004

Linda Howitt:

Nope don't think it's the N/S divide Chris - you soon got lost among
the crowd who jumped up to dance in Edinburgh as I stayed with my son
Mike (who decided against getting up to dance a) he's a bit shy and
b) he had a great view from his seat that he wasn't willing to give up).

Younger son Dan was delighted at getting the chance to dance at the
front with Mon and sit on the stage and even wrote a wee story about
it in school the next day :))))) - needless to say his teacher was
well impressed and made such a fuss of the picture we have of him
with Chris. Both the boys had a wonderful time and got a huge thrill
earlier on when Chris did the Britney bit and made a point of coming
over to say hi to them on his way past. Their wee faces were a
picture. This was their first ever concert (with anyone) and they
really loved it.

I loved it too. Not only was it a great show where I met up several
friends, but I also got to experience it from a whole new perspective
through the eyes of my kids. That was special in it's own right.
Particularly as Mike - my little angel of darkness who likes vampires
and strives to be 'cool'- isn't prone to great bursts of open joy.
Even he spent an entire evening clapping and smiling - wow!

Without going into details (cos it would probably bore you) I gave up
something pretty special to go to this show. But in return I had
such a great time in the company of Mon and I wouldn't have missed my
kids reactions for anything. It was well worth choosing the show
over the other thing - I'd do it again, if only I could! :)))

Hah - and to cap it all - Mike was completely amazed that his mum's
name appeared on the screens at the end. If it wasn't for the fact
that my mission in life is to embarrass my kids he might even have
said I was borderline 'cool' though I don't ever expect him to admit
to that again.

To everyone I met up with, Vanessa (saw that hug), Rob (you are such
a marshmallow behind all that big talk), Chris (congrats on your
centenary show) & Andrea (nice to meet you), - it was great to see
you all.

Love Lids xx
