Concert Review: Nottingham, UK - October 11, 2004
Dave Doohan:
Well, I have to say that this was a very enjoyable concert, and a great view (as I said) from the front row in Nottingham. 7.35 start became 7.45, but ended around 10.20-10.30 I think. What was good was being able to hear all the older, more personal songs. The set was pretty much as far as I can tell the same as Manchester. Jokes were the same too ;-) but hey, who cares! No, it hasn't changed my opinion of the new album (it's somewhere in the house but I still couldn't tell you where), but I did think that Chris' voice sounded far better than I have heard it for a long time, and he looked to be having a really good time up there. The best thing(okay, next to Chris' show) was a security guard at the end who I was chatting to and who told me that he also works at the Nottingham Arena where the "boy bands" play, and he found it refreshing to see an artist who actually sang and could play the guitar, and piano and gave such good value for money. Praise indeed when security enjoy the show. I asked him about the walkabout and he said that it was good fun, although Chris Andrews does seem to be a little nervous when Chris is off wandering the aisles - can't see why! :) Did people stand up? Well, Nottingham was very polite, the mood of the show was sit down and enjoy and that we did, up to the last 30 minutes, when folks stood but didn't "rock". No one rushed the front either, but that's not to say that a PACKED (yes it was PACKED out) Concert Hall didn't have a great night and some good memories of songs old and new. Hello also to Linne Wollerton and Mariecke who were sitting behind us (myself and Kate) in row two, looking behind them for me during the show - hope you enjoyed your short stay in our town! Dave.
