Concert Review: Bremerhaven, Germany - September 30, 2009

Chris Williams:

So, we arrived in the rain at around 19:15 hrs and first said hello to Jason and some
other community members, then took our seats. The hall was very big and the stage much
bigger than the previous shows. Our seats were over on the far right side of the stage.
Again there was no staggered seating on the floor, only in the balcony at the back of the
hall. The seats were laid out in quite a strange layout really, and the colour of them
was all the colours of the rainbow......and I’m not
joking Soon it was 20:00 and the house lights went down and the intro music started,
followed by first the band entering the stage and then Chris who was dressed in a white
shirt with big pink design on it, which we have seen in the earlier concerts. A black
leather jacket, trousers and shoes of course accompanied the shirt
The audience again was in the older age group, although I have to say I do not pay that
much attention generally, as I’m there to enjoy myself, and not watch the other around
me:!:
Of course the order of the songs was the same as in previous nights, starting with Last
Night, Missing You and then the ‘vocal’ introduction, where Chris told that he had never
been in Bremerhaven before. During the first songs Chris was given quite a few gifts and
flowers.
Soon came the part I was kind of dreading as he sang The Long And Winding Road and then
Without You, and as I have said before I absolutely ADORE this song and I knew I would be
soo sad when I heard it for the last time and I can admit to crying a few tears as Chris
sang this so beautifully as he always does.
Mirror Of The Soul followed and then Leather On My Shoe and then it was time for the
intermission.
Then came the acoustic part where the band all sit in the middle of the stage and Chris
sang All Along The Watchtower, Love Of The Heart Divine and then Moonlight and Vodka.
This was followed by the Band Intros and then Chris solo singing Borderline, Carry Me, a
little talk about his new Christmas song and then the chorus from it, Spaceman and
Peaceful Waters.
Then it was time for the L IR walk around, which of course as always goes down very well
with the audience. During this song some people made their way to the stage so of course
Andrea and I followed then as Chris walked back up on stage he invited everyone up to
dance, but for sure we were not packed in tight in the area in front of the stage, we had
plenty of room to dance and enjoy ourselves Again it was sad to hear Africa for the
last time, as this is the best fast song that Chris does in the whole show......well for
me anyway it is
The usual other fast songs followed and only way too soon it was time for SONY and
Footsteps and then the final show of the European 2009 tour was over
We sadly said goodbye to friends and then to Jason, who really is such a nice guy, and
finally took a taxi back to our hotel. Now I as write this the wind is howling outside
and it is pouring with rain and looks as miserable as ever, and I have to wait until
22:15 hrs for my flight back home. But as usual Andrea has plans for us to do a bus trip
around the area and if there is time in the afternoon we will visit the little zoo as
well.
So for the final time this year, I’m signing off as the ‘roaming’ CdeB reporter.
