Concert Review: Bundoran, Ireland - February 14, 2009

Chris Williams:

We were very lucky to get excellent seats And it was really nice that we sat
next to Chris R and Alison, so we all knew we would have a good time and enjoy
the show. The stage was very small indeed, but hey we did not care, it gave us
a brilliant view. Also it was a nice low stage Chris came on stage at approx
21:20 hrs and he was dressed in a very nice smart looking black suite with a
white shirt.......the one with a high neck and no collar. He looked really nice
and was obviously in a very good mood from the word go. He started off by
singing a couple of songs at the piano which were 'Here is Your Paradise' and
'Lonely Sky'. The audience were singing long from the word go, so we knew it
was going to be a great concert. After these two songs he then took his jacket
off in the usual 'sexy way' he always does and prentended to undo his belt....
but of course he didn't really undo it then he talked about the fact that
there was actually 11 St. Valentines scattered around the world I never knew
that he also mentioned that he knew a lot of the audience, if not all of them,
and that some of them would be on the tour in April May and June with him or
words very similar to this.

Then followed 'In A Country Churchyard' and after that song finished Stefans
and Annettes little girl took Chris up a packet of biscuits After this song,
Chris sang one of my all time favourites 'The Same Sun' Then If I remember
corrrectly he sang 'The Long And Winding Road' then he talked about the songs
from his new album Footsteps and he told us of a few of the new songs on it,
and when he stopped for a moment I could not resist to shout out....'Sealed
With A Kiss' as well....................and he sang a few lines of the song
right there and then. I was soooo pleased, as this has been one of my all time
non CdeB favourites for years and years now

Shine on was next, followed by a couple of jokes, then came 'Footsteps and 'At
The End Of A Perfect Day', followed by 'Missing You' and 'Borderline', which of
course was very well recieved. this was followed straight away by 'Say Goodbye
To It All' and then more chat about often his songs were about stories and he
went on to sing 'Spanish Train'. After this he talked for several minutes about
not appreciating each other, likehe used to, telling the story that women are
never ready on time to go out and then once they get to the party where they
werre supposed to be going, neither pays the other that much attention, so in
the car on the way home they have another blazing row....................and of
course this led into 'Lady In Red'. Now something very strange happened for
this song...............we had previously seen the 'head gear' that Chris uses
for the walkabout bit, and we saw the big white arrow marked on the edge of the
stage to show him where to walk down, BUT he never did........the headset
remained there and Chris sang the whole song from the stage. Actually I REALLY
enjoyed it this way After the song was finished he told how he always walks
into the audience for this song but as there were soo many beautiful ladies in
red, security had advised him not to go down into the audience It was
obviously a joke, so we don't know why he never went on his usual walkaround.

After this, 'Sailing Away' and telling us that Christmas was just 10 months
away, he made some jokes about sheep and also how he had to help deliver sheep
years ago when he was young. Then came 'Spaceman' and then a funny think happened.
His main guitar apparently lost its sound, so he had to change the straps around
and then use the other guitar and he had to tell the soubnd man to keep turning
it up so it was nice and loud Then he sang 'Peaceful Waters' followed by
'Snows Of New York' and then 'Ferryman' and at this point we went to the front
of the stage. Only a few other came and joined us to start with and even after
that a lot of the audience did not even stand up to the fast songs later on.
then came 'High On Emotion' and the 'PATRICIA'

Two pieces of ladies underwear managed to find its way upto the stage but
unlike any other time I have seen him sing this song, he never picked them up
until the very end of the song, and then he threw the red bra into the audience,
and hung the little pair of knickers on the microphone stand until the end of
the show. Chris then told us this was a party not a concert and again said how
there were many pretty ladies in the audience and he then say 'Pretty Woman'
and then it was time for the last song and it was one that no of us had ever
heard Chris sing before. It was 'Those Were The Days'. This was origianlly sung
by a lady called 'Mary Hopkins' in the seventies. I remember that song very well
The that was it, Chris left the stage very quickly and the show was over.............
no encore whatso ever The wholw show was actually 1 hour 45 minutes long,
but it seemd to go by soo quickly.

After this we said goodbye to a few friends and then the remainder of our group
went into the hotel bar for a party of our own. There was, myself, Stewart,
Claudia, Andrew, Thomas and his brother, Chris R, Alison, Christian and his
girlfriend and a couple of others, who unfortunately I cannot remember their
names at the moment...sorry................. In an ajoining room there was a
music act and they were not sooo good, bu it did not bother us as we were
havinga great time with our friends. Finally around 02:00 hrs the music stopped
and then a few minutes later a guy who was drinking on a table near our group
got up and started playing LIR on a piano wheich was in a corner near him. Our
large group of course joined in and when that song was finshed, he called us
over to stand around the piano with him and then the 'real' part got started as
he played Chris de Burgh song he could think of and we all sang along, getting
louder and louder and possible more out of tune as the night went on. We were
joined by several other people who had obviously been to the show and we all
had a great sing along together At one point it was soooooo funny as he
played Patricia the stripper a young lady got onto the top of the piano and
danced around to the song, wiggling her bum and shaking her hips, but thankfully
she did not remove any clothing and finally the pianist asked her to get down.
But we all had such a good laugh about it, as it was soooo funny. Some of The
songs we sung were, LIR, Borderline twice, Say Goodbye To It All, Satin Green
Shutters, Lonely Sky, Broken Wings, Seperate Table and The Tower and many more.

Gosh I have not had such good fun as this for many many years
