Concert Review: Regensburg, Germany - May 28, 2009

Dear all! This is my review of the concert in Regensburg held on the 28 of May 2009. In Wurzburg review I wrote about the new things of this tour concerts, so I won't mention them again, but will try to render you the atmosphere of this particular concert adding a couple of stories, perhaps. So Regensburg. A very interesting city with lots of cathedrals, churches, old buildings and bridges. Each city has its own energy, its own atmosphere that could be felt when you just get into it. Regensburg is a rather quiet, but colourful and full of amazing energy city. I don't know whether the atmosphere of a city influences on a concert, as there are lots of other factors, but I think it may influence. Speaking about the concert I should say that the audience was rather quiet at the beginning. But during the concert the energy and response of the audience has been growing, but in a slower pace than at the previous concerts I went to. But I liked that. Really! Because it was a very interesting feeling. As I was a part of the audience I was more quiet than usually, as well. But it absolutely didn't mean that I liked the concert less or wasn't high on emotion. No, it was just another feeling – a feeling of a quiet happiness. Well, one thing amazed me at this concert. It was the first concert in Germany where before the show it was announced not to leave the seats until the dancing part begins. I think it was because at the previous concerts in Germany the audience had run to the stage too early. But the most interesting thing is that it was the first time when it was announced in Germany, and together with that it was just the first place in Germany where the audience wouldn’t have run to the stage for sure, as it was very quiet. It amazed me so much, as I have faced with such situations in my life as well. It happened to me that I have been getting in one and the same situation again and again. And there was always a thing that I wanted to change. And at last I have always taken a decision that next time I would change it. And just when I did it for the first time, it always turned out that right this time this thing didn’t intend to happen. Why? I really don't know! I can only wonder why it happens so in this life. The concert began with the song "Last Night" and it sounded very powerful because of the strong musical accompaniment and fantastic flashes of lights shining in the darkness. And this beginning always made me feel that the concert was going to be something special, something we have never seen. And I was always amazed how this song opened a door to the concert itself. The next songs were “Missing You” and “Sailing Away”. Chris got lots of flowers at this concert. And one thing wonders me - in Karlsruhe where the audience was very high on emotion right from the very beginning of the concert - no flowers, except a lady from France, and here with a quiet audience - lots of flowers. “The Long and Winding Road” and “Without You” were the next songs. And I was so happy to hear them again, as Chris put so much love, so many emotions into these songs, that every time I listen to them it is like for the first time. “Footsteps” album seems to me to be really amazing as it is also the first album where Chris tries to tell us about himself only with his emotions. In the albums with his own songs he also has a language of lyrics, and in “Footsteps” – only a language of emotions. And may be only listening to “Footsteps” I realized what a powerful language it was! And I was delighted to hear that a day before this concert Chris received a gold record award for this album! “The Mirror Of The Soul” is one of my favourite songs and it impressed me greatly again. This time on the stage there was a ball made of pieces of mirror. It was turning round reflecting the light falling down on it and the whole hall was full of moving flashes of light! That looked fantastic! And many people were looking around with the eyes full of wonder. And also it was powerful to see the explosion of the bright flashes of light behind Chris when he just sang the words: “And when he did, the whole place exploded with a great and wonderful light...”. “Oh My Brave Hearts” was the next song after which I decided to present the flowers. When the song was finished I came in front of the stage and was waiting near a staircase when Chris had the time to take the flowers. While I was standing there a security came to me and said that I couldn't go upstairs. And while I was thinking how to present the flowers then, Chris came to the edge of the stage and stopped there in front of the staircase and was looking at me. And the security was standing near me and I had a feeling that if I only made a step he would stop me as he warned. I looked at Chris again, thought a little bit, made a deep breath and began working upstairs. So it is natural that when I finally reached Chris I forgot everything and just gave him the flowers. But that was already good, as if I had been more anxious I could have forgotten to give him the flowers at all. But the most funny thing was in the break when Moni said: “So you've got a kiss after all”. And I tried to remember and just couldn't and said: “I am not sure”. Moni and my husband laughed so much. “Leather On My Shoes” was the last song in this part. The second part began with the song “All Along The Watch Tower”. It was followed by “Love Of The Heart Divine”. And I was so happy when I heard the first sounds of this song as I was waiting for it so much! And again I felt myself like in Wurzburg... “Moonlight and Vodka” was the next song and this Russian guy Nigel (I wrote about him in the previous review) was perfect. And if he also wore a cap with a flower on it like the Russian guys in villages used to wear at that time, even KGB would be 100% sure that he is from Russia Then Chris sang “Borderline”, “The Last Thing On My Mind” and made “The Lady In Red” walk around the audience. “Africa” was the first song of the dancing part. And the next song was “The Perfect Man”. My God, I loved this song very much! There were so much energy, so many emotions in it, that just from the first sounds, from the first lights of this song I felt myself really fantastic! I should say that I hadn’t listened to this song very often and may be hadn’t paid too much attention to it, but these concerts have really opened it to me! The song “The Words I Love You” produced a tremendous impression on me this time. And I think I will never forget it, as when Chris was singing it I have got an amazing feeling and was wondering why it was so, when suddenly I remembered the words that impressed me greatly in one book. It was written there that when we stand in front of God one day he won't ask our name but he will ask whether we were able to love while we were here on this planet. And I think that only at this concert I began really understanding what this song was about... “Ship To Shore” and “Say Goodbye To It All” were the next songs. They were followed by “Don’t Pay The Ferryman” and “High On Emotion”. And once again I was amazed by the powerful energy that was concentrated in these songs. “The Snows Of New-York” and “Footsteps” were the last songs. And when Chris was singing “The Snows Of New-York” I looked around and saw lots of people waving their arms and that looked really beautiful! Thank you very much for reading my review!
