Concert Review: Koblenz, Germany - September 27, 2011

Lore Müller:

It was one of those loooooooooooooong concerts, which CdeB used to present years ago, 2 hours and 55 min., not
including the break.
That was fantastic! In two blocks he explained the story of Moonfleet and played/sang several Moonfleet-songs, very
emotional or rocky, depending on the song.
My favourite during the solo-part was "Lonely Sky". As always, I would like a longer solo-part.
The selection of the "oldies" was fine, but a concert only with old oldies would be a challenge for me.
A piano was on stage and so he sang "Borderline". Great as always. He got standing ovations.
His voice was great. He mentioned he still could sing the high tunes and prooved it while singing a line of the high
part of Borderline. That was funny!
The band and Chris were in a very good mood, Chris joked with the audience and with the band, he got gifts from some
ladies, he did the walk-about during LIR, he surprised us with "Those were the days", he sang "Seven Bridges" and
"SOS", which we had expected. Talking to other fans (many of them well-known to me) about the upcoming Footsteps 2
and the selection of its songs, I realized, that many of us prefer a new CD with CdeB´s own songs and that the
choice of songs on Footsteps 2 is not that good ("our" opinion) as on Footsteps (1). I must admit, the two "new"
songs sounded really great, live on stage. Ah yes, the stage was decorated with parts of ships, broken ships, like
during the spring-tour. And CdeB´s outfit (until the break) suited the scene very well.
BTW: the run to the stage started unexpectedly early, way before LIR!
Of course he sang "People of the World", after he had explained the meaning of the song. And we got up during the
song.
A woman´s voice from somewhere in the audience shouted some time afterwards some Persian words. Chris asked to
repeat. She did. He answered in Persian and translated for us: "I love you". Little things like that make this man
and his concerts so special.
One of the highlights of this concert for me was "The Leader", again with video.
This concert was my only one of the Moonfleet-autumn-tour and I´m looking forward to what is coming next!
