Miss Ireland 2003

Beautiful daughter of famous father

Dublin - When the new Miss Ireland was crowned, a well-known face beamed in
the background with fatherly pride in his eyes.

The biggest hit of Chris de Burgh is called "Lady In Red". And in a dress
of the successfully sung to colour, his daughter Rosanna competed: at the
Miss Ireland election 2003 last weekend.

Father Chris anxiously fevered with his daughter behind the curtains. One
candidate after another tripped along the catwalk. But his Rosanna, blond
and long-legged like a Swedish woman, outdid all in the end and happily
fell into her father's arms after the win in a Dublin Hotel.

One more exotic episode in the varied life of the now 54 year old singer.
After all he was born far away from Ireland: in Argentina. As the son of a
diplomate he lived in Malta, Nigeria and Zaire.

His family then moved to Dublin. Little Chris soon learned to play the
guitar and to sing. And soon managed the break-through. Again far away
from Ireland: His first hit single "Flying" stayed 17 week at the top of
the Brazilian (!) charts.
