by Helmut Kunz translation by Astrid Nolde-Gallasch Irish Pop bard Chris de Burgh on "Road To Freedom" tour in Nürnberg Nürnberg. He admits being a lover of Nürnberger sausages, sauerkraut and beer. At least that's what Chris de Burgh tells the fans in the sold out Meistersingerhalle. Although the Irish pop bard was constantly looking for and finding the contact to the audience, the concert during his "Road to Freedom" tour was rather a quieter and more contemplative one. The castle owner spontaneously replied to what was shouted from the audience and sang the beginning of requested songs a capella. Once he walked with his guitar like a wandering musician through the hall. The singer dedicated the first part to his new CD. "Last Night" describes the changed life of soldiers and their families after D-Day. The song was a demand to the American president to finally make peace. "Rose of England" was a homage to Queen Elizabeth I. The world star was on stage non stop for 165 minutes, just as a solo act, only furnished with two guitars and a piano. In the last third of the cocnert he brought all his big successes: "Lady In Red", "Sailing Away", "Don't Pay The Ferryman" and "High Emotions". He dedicated the encore to his big idols: The Beatles. |
