Popstar Chris de Burgh with Archbishop Ludwig Schick

Worldstar fascinated by Bamberger Dome - Archbishop Schick shows
his bishop residence

Bamberg. He has already been three times to Bamberg, but with
better weather! With a smile on his face and a critical look to the
sky, the Irish singer Chris de Burgh visited the Bamberger Dome
before his open air concert in Bamberg. Archbishop Ludwig Schick
showed the 56 year old Irishman the treasures of the world culture
heritage. The singer with British parents who was born in Buenos
Aires as the son of a diplomate has travelled the whole world as a
child before he settled in Ireland. The singer was impressed by the
Bamberger Dome, its art treasures and sacred works. Names of
Frankonian artists like Tilman Riemenschneider were not new for
him. "When I am in cities - on tour or privately - then I always
visit the big churches. But I am for the first time inthe Bamberger
Dome, although it is the third time that I am in this city."

It has also been an impressive experience for the archbishop to be
in touch with such a popular and famous European star. After all
the archbishop knows the singer and has heard him live too once in
Fulda. Culture connects people and music is culture, and especially
Chris de Burgh sings often about peace and freedom, said Schick.

Chris de Burgh made a stop in Bamberg on Saturday the 19th June
2004 during his European tour. He gave an open air concert on the
Domplatz. Visitors of the Dome and tourists already could enjoy a
little free concert in the afternoon during the soundcheck, right
after the Dome guidance.
