Super Open-(Fl)Air: "High on Emotion" on the Schlossplatz!

It finished right at 11:03 pm: After 2 1/2 hours without a break
Chris de Burgh said goodbye to the completely enthused audience on
the Schlossplatz. The concert during his "Road To Freedom" world
tour of the 55 year old Irishman was the opener for three days open
air events in the Emmendinger city.

A cloudless sky and temperatures around 25 degrees celsius were the
best conditions for a concert evening with a historical background
on a place between castle, two churches and "Lenzhschen". Right
before the start of the concert Chris de Burgh took the time to
greet four readers of the weekly newspaper Emmendinger Tor
personally. Politely, modest and with respect Chris de Burgh met
the winners of the ET-event "meet and greet". Without further
musical or choreographical support (except two titles with son
Hubie) Chris de Burgh managed to play himself with his singing,
guitar and piano right into the hearts of the over 2000 visitors.
Not only that: With humor, jokes and charme, often in the German
language, the sympathical world star (over 45 million sold albums!)
quickly built a bridge to the audience. And he practiced one word
to perfection: EMMENDINGEN!

In the first third of the concert he introduced some pieces of his
15th album "The Road To Freedom". After the end of "St. Peter's Day"
Chris de Burgh left the huge stage and walked for a couple of
minutes through the audience. Now the ice has finally been broken.
Emmendingen lay to his feet - Open-air with flair!

Around 10 pm the first test for the audience: "Sailing Away" was
the beginning to a series of famous pieces that had made him popular
in Germany since 1982. "Lady In Red", the most famous ballad of the
Irishman and "Where Peaceful Waters Flow" were the sign for the
audience to storm the room right before the stage. His first charts
success "Don't Pay The Ferryman" and "High On Emotion" followed as
encores.

On its peak the concert turned out to be a party: Chris de Burgh
knocked back a few with his personal favourites: With "A Hard Days
Night" and "Obladi Oblada" by the Beatles, Don McLean's "American
Pie" and Roy Orbison's "Pretty Woman" he could once more increase
the atmosphere! The final of a perfect evening came with "Hey Jude".
The visitors continued to sing the obligatory "Na na nanananana"
chorus like in trance also without their star. Emmendingen, 11:03
pm: The Schlossplatz "High on Emotion" ...
