Cosy/familiar atmosphere with Chris de Burgh

Dortmund - The Westfalenhalle was sold out on Saturday evening, but
the mood was still cosy. Chris de Burgh wanted to spend an intimate
evening with his fans and the singer actually reached it.

Chris de Burgh let the huge Arena shrinking to a cosy living room for
himself and the 7500 visitors. Because he had his first big success as
singer in the Westfalenhalle he came back 2 decades later for a solo
show with guitar and piano. De Burgh played a mix of old and new hits
and garnished the evening with anecdotes and stories. Partly the
concert of the in Ireland living singer seemed like a birthday party
for his best friends: from the first song the audience brought presents
like flowers or a bottle of wine to the stage. One of his youngest fans,
a six year old girl came with a painted picture. <>

The most part of the audience sang the lyrics of his songs line by line,
word by word by heart. After the song "St.Peters Gate" the audience
demanded an encore and sang a-cappella on their own until the master
joined in again.

For the light effects the organizer had planned with the audience. On
nearly every seat were little light sticks for the audience, who made
the dark round of the Westfalenhalle look like a huge swarm of glow-worms.

Some of the fans had come a long way to take part in the anniversary
concert in the Ruhrgebiet (name of the local area) on Saturday. Such
as Maureen, Shenna, Debra and some friends from Sheffield, York,
Manchester, Birmingham, London and other cities of the UK. "We drove
19 hours from England" they told.
