by ali Enthusiastic bard Chris de Burgh performs in the Schwetzinger Schlossgarten Schwetzingen. You can't see that this man has over 3000 concerts behind him, sold 45 million records and is a true world star. Chris de Burgh (55) just appears modest, sympathical and simply nice, when he entered the Schlossgarten yesterday afternoon and writes into the Golden Book of the city afterwards. "I love parks", the bard beams with joy. Some hours later he will enthuse his 3300 fans at the open air concert on the flower meadow of the Schwetzinger baroque garden which has been sold out for weeks, with his hits like "Don't Pay The Ferryman", "Lady In Red" or "Patricia The Stripper". Already during the sound check Chris de Burgh proved to be in good spirits and joked with the dozen of listeners - mostly staff from the castle and town administration, among them mayor Bernd Kappenstein and the director of the castle administration, Andreas Falz. The visitors of the Schlossgarten mostly didn't realize who walked among them to be inspired by the beauty of the famous park. And although there was not much time until the concert, he really wanted to see the inside of the castle and enjoy the view over the garden up to Heidelberg from the roof. "Simply wonderful", Chris de Burgh beams with joy and is happy that he could perform later in this ambience. And he went on to say that he grew up in a castle himself. "Road To Freedom", the title track of his current CD, was the beginning of an impressive concert by a wonderful artist. |
