Chris de Burgh interview taken from the German magazine NEUE WELT:
Everybody is talking about the love affair with former nanny Maresa (20), but no one is talking about his music! Chris de Burgh (44) is tired of being designated as a casanova. "Maresa and me, we're just good friends. Ok, there used to be something special between us, but that's over. I don't want to gamble with my marriage and my family", he declared to the german magazine NEUE WELT (= New World).
CHRIS: My private life is a private mattter!! And please, please don't believe in all of these stories published in the papers. There're so many lies floating around.
NEUE WELT: The songs on Your new album called "Beautiful dreams" are accompanied by orchestra.
CHRIS: Yes, it was very emotional. It's great to work with pro- fessional musicians, giving away my very heart. The musicians are well disciplined and precise, knowing to read music - I don't.
NEUE WELT: Well, how do you write your songs?
CHRIS: Using a tape recorder. The melody is in my mind. I can hear it in my imagination.
NEUE WELT: You have also recorded "The Lady In Red", a song dedicated to your wife. Seems to be a proof of your love after all these recent annoyances?
CHRIS: No! By the way, I've never confirmed this song to be writen for Diane, but it's a nice story anyway. The song describes just a normal relationship. After some time, you begin to lose care for each other, lives drivting apart. That's the way it is, but doesn't reflect my personal life or my marriage at all.
NEUE WELT: How do you spend your spare time?
CHRIS: I enjoy family life, taking my children to school, playing games with them. I often tell them stories I invented - about smugglers and pirates. And all three of them are bent on these stories, especially the boys. Besides I like to take a walk or to go to swim. Twice a week I play golf with some friends. You see, I'm leading just a normal life.
