Rocky and romantic - Chris de Burgh on tour in Germany

Dortmung - He promised his fans a big party in the end, and he didn't disappoint them: The audience in the Dortmund Westfalenhalle was raging, when Chris de Burgh played his world hit "Don't Pay The Ferryman" as the last song on Thursday evening. With a "Thank you, good night", he went off stage after almost 2 and a half varied hours at the beginning of his tour in Germany. After almost 7000 people were cheering for many minutes, de Burgh showed with his encores that he hasn't gotten tired even after 27 successful years in music business. Young and old fans came to the Dortmund Westfalenhalle to see their rock poet. In a white short and black trousers he offered them a lot from his over 25 albums: De Burgh played romantical songs like "Lady In Red" and rocky pieces like "Patricia" or "Revolution". Of course de Burgh didn't play only classics with his five band members - after all he had come to Dortmund to introduce his new record "Timing Is Everything". Therefore the almost sold out opening concert started with the first single release "Guilty Secret". But the cheering became a lot louder when he played well-known songs. After almost three hours with encores, the Irishman then played the very last song. But this song wasn't written by him. With the words "And now something from the boys who brought me to music. Thanks John and Paul!" he played "Hey Jude" by the Beatles. The German tour will continue in 19 other German towns and finishes on October 26 in Oberhausen. Chosen cities: Cologne (28.9.), Stuttgart (5.10.), Erfurt (11.10.), Berlin (14.10.), Munich (17.10.), Frankfurt (18.10.), Hamburg (19.10.).
