by Simon GageREVIEW: MOONFLEET - CHRIS DE BURGH (FERRYMAN)
THIS is a bit of a strange one, not unlike Jeff Wayne’s take on War Of The Worlds, with narration and music brought together to tell a story. In this case the story is 19th-century smuggler yarn Moonfleet by J Meade Falkner and it must be said Mr de Burgh has done a fine job turning it into a musical adventure. His narration has gravitas, the songs tell the story beautifully and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra adds lushness to melodies that are exciting and sophisticated.
